A Brief History of Shift Work Forward

Lorem ipsum

Shift Work Forward builds on nearly two decades of work transforming workforce systems across the United States. The organization began in 2007 as the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, launched with a $25 million investment from leading national foundations and the U.S. Department of Labor to strengthen collaboration among employers, communities, and philanthropy in preparing workers for quality jobs.

Over time, the National Fund grew into a nationwide network which worked with nearly 50 regional workforce partnerships and thousands of employers. The organization helped expand employer-led workforce strategies, launched initiatives like CareerSTAT to advance healthcare workforce development, and elevated issues such as job quality, worker voice, and racial equity in workforce systems.

Today, Shift Work Forward builds on that legacy as a national catalyst for change—amplifying local innovation, guiding leaders across sectors, and working to ensure that every worker has access to opportunity and every job is a good job.
