Strengthening the Childcare Workforce for the Long Haul
- Blog
Everyone deserves the opportunity to build a stable, thriving career, yet many workers face systemic barriers that make success difficult — regardless of their skills or drive. Challenges like reliable transportation, affordable family care, high-speed broadband access, fair hiring policies, and safe housing all shape whether someone can access and advance in good jobs.
These obstacles disproportionately affect people of color and low-income workers. Workforce systems alone can’t solve these challenges. Programs often focus narrowly on training or placement without addressing the broader conditions that influence career success.
As a result, many workers are left to navigate fragmented systems, and employers struggle to find and retain talent.
Shift Work Forward is working with our Network Partners to change that. By aligning public and private resources, strengthening cross-sector partnerships, and advancing policy and practice changes, we remove structural obstacles and create more equitable conditions for career advancement.
Our goal is to ensure that where someone lives, their background, or past circumstances do not determine their economic future.
Get the latest news and conversations from the leaders redesigning work for an equitable future.
