Career navigation is rarely—if ever— a linear journey. Career navigation describes the process in which job seekers and workers make decisions about and move through their career journey—from their very first job and beyond. Career journeys are shaped by inequities that are baked into social structures, educational and training institutions, workplaces and broader systems. To give everyone a fair shot at a good job—no matter their background or zip code—we need to improve career navigation systems. This starts by understanding career journeys from the perspective of workers.
