Employers play a critical role in shaping pathways to family-sustaining careers, especially when they work in close collaboration with workforce organizations. This session explores how that role comes to life through partnerships in the utility sector. In Maryland, Baltimore Gas and Electric and Civic Works are expanding access to skilled construction trades. In Chicago, ComEd and Revolution Workshop are preparing participants for technical roles in design and engineering. In both cases, employers help define skill needs, invest in training, and engage their contractors, while workforce partners recruit talent and provide support. Together, these efforts show how employer engagement can turn infrastructure investments into clearer, more accessible pathways to careers.
